It was a great pleasure to meet you in the summer, & an even greater joy to have three such wonderful harps you made for me. I'm loving every minute playing them, & your wonderful workmanship is very much admired. I've had some great sessions in the past few months. I'm a very happy bunny, so thank you very much. Jill Pring. Halsworth Suffolk. July 2012. I have known Alec Anness for over 30 years. He is a superb craftsman. His knowledge of furniture styles is very considerable as is his knowledge of specialist suppliers for what is needed for the job in hand. His advice can be trusted completely; he has the skills to carry out what should be done and the appreciation of what he is working on to be able to bring out their finest features. R. S Alec has renovated & upgraded several Autoharps for me over the past few years. The latest was a 21 bar Oscar Schmidt (Model 21 c/r) which needed new tuning pegs as well as a new set of strings and re felting of the chord bars where needed. He takes great care in every detail to produce a musical instrument which not only sounds good but also looks good. This is the harp that I now play regularly. Not only does Alec carry out repairs & restoration on furniture, he also makes Autoharps ,Hammered Dulcimers & Banjo's to a very high standard. His Chromatic & Diatonic Autoharps are of a very high quality both as a musical instrument and as a pleasing object to look at. In addition to his skill in creating fine musical instruments and furniture of varied types, Alec is also a performer of considerable ability playing Autoharp, Guitar, Banjo and Dulcimers in various styles to a very high standard. Ted Lindley. Alec Anness has been looking after antique furniture for me for about 25 years. During this time a variety of articles have been restored to their former glory including a Georgian wall cupboard, a Georgian bureau bookcase, numerous chairs and boxes. The bureau bookcase looks particularly fine now drawer fronts had to be repaired where new handles had been set in and the old holes rather badly filled. It now looks very fine. A chest of drawers has been rebuilt and draw runners replaced, veneers repaired and all the various pieces arrived back beautifully polished and a general delight. Also he has built from old Mahogany a lovely corner cupboard and a magnificent table to house a very large and heavy atlas. A Most satisfactory project which involved many weeks of initial planning and changes of ideas. All built using old mahogany table tops except for the legs which were beautifully matched for colour. Alec also made me a pair of solid oak toy box for my grandchildren with beautiful exposed dovetails, a lovely feature and carved initials and date on the lid making it something for them to treasure. Alec has also been an inspiring teacher who taught me skills to repair, wax and French polish furniture. S. Sole- West Wratting, Cambridgeshire. August 2006 I would recommend Alec's autoharp to anyone as a perfect companion both for musical fulfilment at home and for sharing with a wider audience, Its the perfect mood enhancer! My latest C D which i begun recording before i received my new instrument has now meant that because the new harp sounds so much better I've re- recorded it with my new baby. S.F.B. East Sussex I just wanted to write & thank you so much for making my 16/16 Hammered Dulcimer, damper bar system, flight case, hammers & tuning wrench which I collected from you on Tuesday. All were made to the highest level of quality, skill & craftsmanship & I am so proud to be the owner of them. David Hines, Dorset. March 2013. Restoration of a 1930's Regal Dobro Resonator Guitar. The Resonator Guitar is brillant. The pictures are great but don't do it justice, it looks twice as good in the flesh !! It's a shame I was at work so couldn't have a proper play. Please let me know if you find another gem like your resonator, because I'd be more than happy to commission work on the instrument. I really need a good reso in my collection !! Rob Newsome of P M T music store Cambridge. Restoration of 15 bar Chromaharp. The harp arrived today, extremely well packed. Thank you so much. I'm thrilled with the work, it's a different instrument. It's never been so easy to play, even when new & looks beautiful again. Margaret Gilman. February 2014 Hope to see you before to long. I'm not sure I will be able to make the next UKAA event this year though. Your lovely Harp you made for me is played a lot,& people always admire it. All the best. Shan. Shan Graebe, Gloucester. April 2014. Alec, the 21 bar chromatic Autoharp, which you built for me is a beautiful instrument & well worth waiting the time it took you to build. The tone quality is excellent. The chords blend beautifully together. Your hand made Autoharps must be the best produced in Britian & Europe, & at least of very high ranking worldwide. I say this after often speaking with you on the phone & lately seeing you in your workshop. It is clear to me, your hand make your instruments with a high degree of skill, precision & dedication- backed up by your extended knowledge of suitable acoustic woods & design. It appeals to me too that virtually all the parts are made in Britian & none in the Far East ! I greatly appreciate your design of the fine-tuners, it's very simple to use.
